At OKC Improv, we are proud to be able to offer 2 programs that help our organization as well as benefiting our community of performers and students. Our VOLUNTEERS are people that would like to volunteer their time to help work in our Box Office , Tech or Bar (Valid Liquor License Required). Our INTERSHIP PROGRAM is for people that would like to help work our Box Office, Tech and/or Bar (Valid Liquor License Required) in exchanged for 50% off or 100% off OKC Improv classes.
There is no enrollment required to simply volunteer for a shift.
IT IS REQUIRED TO FOLLOW THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS TO BE AN INTERN AND HAVE YOUR CLASSES PAID FOR. For more information and full details on each program, choose the corresponding option below.

AS A REMINDER, our volunteer program does not go towards helping students pay for classes (that is our Internship Program. Please see "Internship Information" for details on how to enroll..

The way that our internship program works is that students can volunteer to pay off their class before and during the term. There are regular classes and specialty classes. One regular class requires signing up for 9 volunteer shifts at our OKC Improv shows for a fully paid off class or 5 shifts for 50% off. Specialty classes (classes that cost more than than our standard $160 classes) require signing up for 12 shifts for half off the class (Specialty classes are only eligible for half-off and not eligible 100% off a class).
Below is the basic 5 STEP PROCESS on enrolling in our Internship Program:
The volunteer roles we currently offer are
Box Office (helping with ticket transactions and checking in pre-sold tickets)
Tech (running lights and sound for the show)
Bartending (for those with active liquor licenses).
You'll need to sign up for shifts before we can officially enroll you in a class! You can sign up for shifts at okcimprov.setmore.com. On this site, you'll see the ability to sign up for any of the listed above shifts. You can select any date that it allows you to select. If a date is greyed out, then it means that someone most likely has signed up for that shift.

Once you have signed up for your shifts, send an email to our Volunteer Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org letting them know that you have signed up for your shifts.
In your email please include:
- A good phone number (to add you to our Volunteer GroupMe Chat for volunteer updates)
- Which class you'd like to sign up for, including the day of the week the class falls on [some classes we offer on multiple days]…You can also simply say "I'm just building up shifts" if you don't have a class you want to sign up for yet but would like track your shifts for the intern program! When you are ready to redeem your banked shifts, simply email email@example.com with the above information.
Download the GroupMe App (if you don't already have it). Each of our volunteer departments have a chat that we give out information in etc. and we want to get you added!
Show up at the time and date of your shift. (It's very simple but one of our Volunteer Leads will definitely train you on how everything works when you arrive!)
ADDITIONAL INTERN INFO
The Volunteer Coordinator keeps track of your shifts when you sign up for them at the above link and you can always check in with them about the status/how many you currently have. Simply email them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If anything comes up, and you cannot make a shift your signed up for, simply email 2 weeks in advance so that we can cancel that shift and you'll need to sign up for another one to make up for it.

If you volunteer to work a 7:30pm show you can get into the 9:30pm show for free as well and vice versa. You are also more than welcome to sign up to work at the box office for both the 7:30pm and 9:30pm show in one night (which counts as 2 shifts in 1 night). It's completely up to you!
*EACH INTERN CAN ONLY HAVE A MAXIMUM OF 24 SHIFTS STORED IN THEIR VOLUNTEER BANK AT ONE TIME.
TROUPE VOLUNTEERING FOR REHEARSAL SPACE
Members of a troupe can volunteer in order to wave the OKC Improv Rehearsal Room Fee and receive complimentary OKC Improv rehearsal space for their troupe.
Here is the 5 STEP PROCESS for Troupe Volunteering Program works:
STEP 1 - Sign up for a volunteer shift
Sign up for a shift at volunteer.okcimprov.com.
STEP 2 - Email Volunteer Coordinator
Send an email to our Volunteer Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org indicating that you are volunteering for complimentary rehearsal space.
- NOTE: YOU CANNOT BACK TRACK PAST VOLUNTEER SHIFTS THAT ARE ALREADY COMPLETED AND USE THEM FOR TROUPE VOLUNTEERING. FOR TRACKING PURPOSES, IT MUST BE EMAILED TO THE VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR BEFORE THE SHIFT IS COMPLETED.
- VOLUNTEER SHIFTS MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE THEY ARE REDEEMED FOR TROUPE VOLUNTEERING.
- If you are also enrolled in the internship program, there will be separate tracking of shifts for your internship and a separate tracking of shifts for your Troupe Volunteering.
STEP 3 - Redeem Your Volunteer Shift
You can redeem your complimentary rehearse space by signing up for a date, time, and room you would like to rent. You can sign up for a room at okcivenue.setmore.com. On this page you will select:
- A Length of Time (each 1 shift volunteered = 1 free 2 hour shift)
- Select A Room to Rent
- Input your information (THEIR WILL BE A "COMMENT" SECTION, MAKE SURE TO TYPE YOUR TROUPE NAME AND THEN "VOLUNTEER" (EXAMPLE: PARTNERS IN TIME VOLUNTEER).
STEP 4 - SKIP THE PAYMENT PROCESS
When you get to the payment information, scroll to the bottom right and click "skip & book" (this will allow you to book without payment). The Volunteer Coordinator will confirm that you have shifts to cover your complimentary rehearsal room.
STEP 5 - Email, the email@example.com to coordinate ensuring that there will be someone to give your access to the theatre during your scheduled shift.
If you need to reschedule your shift, you may cancel and sign up for a new. Simply add the rescheduled information in the comment section as your book. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you did reschedule so that we may coordinate access to the theatre with you on your rescheduled time.
