THIS WEEK: SATURDAY, APRIL16, 2011
8pm: The Laughing Stocks / Fortune’s Fools / Villain: The Musical
10pm: Brad Porter / The MiDolls /
Sketchers in the Wry: Love in the Time of Zombies
OKC Improv, Oklahoma's premiere showcase for improv comedy and theater, continues its 5-week March/April Run at Ghostlight Theatre Club (3110 N Walker) with two awesome shows this Saturday, April 9 at 8pm and 10pm.
At 8pm we've got the brand new short form group The Laughing Stocks made-up of experienced improvisers paired up with current and recently graduated OKC Improv students followed by the return of the linguistically lethal comedy of Fortune's Fools, a troupe co-produced by OKC Improv and Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park, that brings together some of the metro's best actors and improvisers on one stage to create original stories and characters in the style of William Shakespeare. One of OKC's most popular troupes, Villain: The Musical closes out the show with a 45-minute improvised musical where the bad guy is always the main character!
At 10pm, one of the metro's top stand-up comedians, the fiercely funny Brad Chad Porter, returns to the OKC Improv stage followed by the themed comedy of Oklahoma's one and only all-gal improv group The MiDolls. The 10pm show will close out with the world premiere of Sketcher's in the Wry, a brand new sketch comedy show written and performed by Rachel Bouton, Ryan Drake, Scott Hynes, Jodi Nestander, Joe Provine, Christopher Robinson, Buck Vrazel, Clint Vrazel and Raychel Winstead. The group's first show, entitled "Love in the Time of Zombies," is a road trip through the tipping points that balance family and politics, love and tradition, famous and monstrous, force and farce, with a few stops for hobbits and show ‘n’ tell along the way.
OKC Improv's current run continues with weekly Saturday shows at 8pm and 10pm through April 16 and on Friday, April 22. Tickets are $10 each. $5 for improvisers and improv students. Admission is FREE if you're celebrating your birthday with us!
