OKC Improv begins its second 5-week run at Ghostlight Theatre Club (3110 N. Walker, OKC) Saturday, April 3rd with shows at 8pm and 10pm continuing with weekly shows through May 1st.
OKC Improv's inaugural run included several sold-out performances and wowed audiences and critics alike by showcasing a broad spectrum of talent from almost every improv group in Oklahoma including several debuts like the improvised Mamet-style plays of The Closers, the improvised rap concert of Twinprov's Doppelgangstas: Live, and the Wicked-style improvised musical extravaganza Villain: The Musical.
During the upcoming run this precedent will continue with the return of Twinprov (recently returned from performances and workshops in Kansas City) and Villain along with popular local troupes Everybody and Their Dog, The Ones Your Mother Warned You About (recently returned from performing in the Dallas Comedy Festival), O.U. Improv!, and Red Dirt Improv and Cueless from Stillwater. Tulsa's premiere troupe, Crayons, will be making their OKC debut on April 24 along with Edmond-based teen improv group To Be Announced.
Comprised of some of the metro's best improvisers, Oklahoma's first all-female improv troupe, The MiDolls, will make their debut on April 17th preceded by The Victims from Dallas, the first of two out of state acts to perform on the OKC Improv stage. The following week on April 23 a special Friday night show will play host to the Megaphone Comedy Tour featuring founding members of The Dallas Comedy House and The New Movement Theatre in Austin, TX.
The run will close out with a brand-new Twinprov experience, Rap City. Based on suggestions from the audience, twin brothers Buck and Clint Vrazel will explore a living breathing world of imagination with a hip-hop soundtrack that will be equal parts concert, comedy, and theater.According to Janet Patterson of The Edmond Sun, “Ghostlight Theatre Club’s intimate atmosphere, with its small stage and cash bar, is a perfect setting for the unabashed adult entertainment OKC Improv provides. It’s affordable, interactive and an interesting alternative to traditional scripted theater.”
Tickets are $10 each. Reservations are encouraged and can be made via E-Mail at okcimprov@gmail.com or by calling 405.343.1570. For more information go to www.okcimprov.com.
