Happy Festivus and Opening Night, Workshops Sat Nov 22nd too

Happy Festivus and Opening Night, everyone! OKC Improv is happy to present our third annual Winter Festivus!  Join us for a two-day improv showcase with amazing local talent and out-of-town guests Friday and Saturday Dec 5-6.

And that's not all. OKC Improv has been invited back for our fourth year at The Arts Council of Oklahoma City's Opening Night celebrations at the Downtown OKC Museum of Art, New Year's Eve, Wed Dec 31st. We'll fill the stage on the hour from 7pm to 11 pm in the beautiful and packed theater.

IMPROVISERS - We're accepting submissions for Festivus and Opening Night groups, as well as individuals for All-Stars shows until midnight Saturday, Nov 15. Use the link here or the 'Submit' tab.

Start working on those holiday pounds early with OKC Improv's Fall Workshops Saturday, Nov 22nd at ACTS Casting Theater.

Lifelong theater professional and OKC Improv Managing Director Sue Ellen Reiman will be teaching the "No Laughing Matter" workshop from 1 - 3 pm.

No Laughing Matteris a workshop to help improvisers who find everything in a scene so incredibly funny that they drop their character and intention to laugh at it.  And thats the audiences job.  Well do exercises and scenes designed to test your commitment to your characters emotional life and keep you hanging on to it, regardless of what anyone throws your way.  Dont worry - well laugh when its over.

Sue Ellen has performed with Everybody and their Dog, the MiDolls, Fortunes Fools, Anomaly, Almost Broadway, Artful Codgers and Villain: The Musical.  Workshops and training include those with Susan Messing, Noah Gregoropoulos, Mick Napier, Jill Bernard, Joe Bill, Armando Diaz, Asaf Ronen, Rebecca Sohn, Frank Caeti, Liz Allen, Jimmy Carrane, Kat Gotsick, Zach Ward, Bob Dassie, Craig Cackowski, Dave Razowsky and others.  She has taught classes with OKCI, in residencies with the Oklahoma Arts Council and at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Comedy Rappers and OKC Improv Founders Buck and Clint Vrazel (Twinprov) will also be bringing back their popular Rapkido: Improvised Freestyle and Beatbox workshop as well, from 3 - 5 pm.

With a packed two hours of fun group games*, you'll learn from two nationally-traveled improv rap masters how to use character, point of view, musicality, and physicality to spit creative, authentic, clever, and funny verses worthy of Eminem or Shakespeare. Unleash your inner beatboxer and backup singer. Avoid the Rhyme Trap and get wordplay and rhyme exercises that will take you from Dr. Seuss to Dr. Dre. *Weapons not allowed

Workshops are $20 per person. Pay at the door. Check the 'Workshop' tab above for more details.
